Two Jenks elementary students received special gifts Friday morning.

Friday morning, a fourth-grade boy and a fourth-grade girl from Jenks West Elementary were surprised with free bicycles presented by State Farm Agent Justin Carlton and City Cycles, a local bike shop.

"As a child, I was [the] recipient of a relative's great kindness that came in the form of a bicycle he graciously purchased for me," Carlton said in a press release. "It was a kindness that stayed with me and forever altered my view on the responsibility we as business owners should hold toward the success of the youth in our community. This bike program is the first step in demonstrating our commitment to the health and well-being of our youth. I hope it serves as a catalyst to encourage other businesses to follow suit in partnering with our school system in some capacity. Working alone, our impact is limited, but working together it knows no bounds."

The lucky students were chosen from a pool of applicants and also received a free helmet with their bikes.
