TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) – There are only two remaining World War II survivors in the area, Lonnie Cook and Arles Cole.

Every year members of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Last Man’s Club of Tulsa have a special ceremony on Dec. 7 to toll the bell in honor of those who have passed.

There were 69 members when the club began.

Cook served on the USS Arizona. He is one of the last five survivors of the ship in the United States.

Cole served on the USS West Virginia.

Both said they believe it’s important to remember this day always.

“I believe we are now keeping our children knowledgeable, more knowledgeable about Pearl Harbor, what happened along the way,” said Cole.

Several widows and children of Pearl Harbor survivors who have passed also stopped by the ceremony to pay their respects.
