Local church prepares for concert to support education in Oklahoma
Friday is a big day for a local church in Tulsa and it's all for a great cause.
The Metropolitan Baptist Church and the Tulsa C.A.R.E Alliance has arranged for Grammy-Award winning Gospel artist and Pastor, Marvin Sapp to perform a free concert.
The concert is an effort to promote the importance of education.
It's a part of a movement called "My Dream is School Choice."
Sapp also started a performing arts charter school, which is why organizers said it's so important for him to share his commitment to education.
Those who plan to attend the event believe it will help bring the community together.
"This event really brings people together. In honor of choice, in honor of excellent opportunities for children and education is just a staple in all communities. That's our plight for the future," Executive Director of Tulsa Legacy Charter School, Carlisha Williams said.
Tickets for the concert are sold out and 7-thousand people are expected to be in attendance at ORU's Mabee Center.
