Man arrested in connection with deadly east Tulsa robbery
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
One person was arrested in connection with the death of 64-year-old Vennie Jean Blalock.
Officers have questioned four people in connection with the May 18 murder at the Sawmill Apartments near South 129th East Avenue and East 35th Street. Police say Blalock was shot in the head during a robbery attempt and was likely fighting over the gun with the suspects.
Chase Allen Bridgers, 19, told investigators that he was the lookout person during the burglary, according to police documents. He also said he went into the apartment to take some items.
Bridgers later told detectives that he and three other people were present when Blalock was shot in the forehead. He was taken into police custody and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on first-degree murder and second-degree burglary complaints.
Investigators also questioned a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old.
This is the 29th homicide in Tulsa for 2017.
