Man dies after double shooting at north Tulsa store
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
Police say a man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after a double shooting at a north Tulsa store.
Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to Haney's Super Trip near East 36th Street North and North Peoria Avenue. Police say two people were shot outside the store after some type of fight broke out, but it's not clear if the victims were associated with the fight because there were 30 to 40 people outside of the business.
Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker said a witness told officers that a man was beaten up in the parking lot before he grabbed a gun and started shooting.
Walter Hogan, 38, was hit multiple times in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The woman was hit in the leg. She had surgery and police say she is expected to survive.
Police say they're having trouble getting more witnesses to cooperate, and many didn't stick around after the shooting.
Detectives are looking at surveillance footage from the store.
This is Tulsa's 61st homicide of the year.
