Many schools forced to extend classes to make up for missed days during the walkout (KTUL)

Most Oklahoma schools are having to extend their daily schedules and last days of the semester in order to make up hours they missed for participating in the statewide walkout.

According to the Education Commission of the States, schools either need to have class for 180 days, with a minimum of six hours in each school day, or elementary classes need to be in session for at least 900 hours and middle and high schools need to be in session for at least 1,080 hours.


Creek County

  • Bristow - No change.
  • Mannford - Last day is pushed back to May 24th.
  • Mounds - Start 30 minutes early and end 17 minutes late. Last day is pushed back to May 18th.
  • Sapulpa - Tentative last day is pushed back to May 29th.

Cherokee County

  • Tahlequah - No more late starts on Mondays. Last day is pushed back to May 22nd.

Muskogee County

  • Muskogee - High school adds 30 minutes before school and one minute after school. No change for middle and elementary schools. No more late starts on Wednesdays. Last day is pushed back to May 31st.

Nowata County

  • Nowata - 55 minutes added to end of each day; Last day is pushed back to May 18.

Osage County

  • Pawhuska - High and middle schools add 72 minutes to end of day and elementary school adds 62 minutes to end of day. Bus routes drop off one hour later.

Ottawa County

  • Miami - 25 minutes added to each day.

Rogers County

  • Catoosa - Still deciding on how to make up minutes
  • Claremore - High school starts 20 minutes early and ends 30 minutes late, middle school starts 15 minutes early and ends 30 minutes late and elementary school starts 10 minutes early and ends 20 minutes late. Afternoon bus drop off is 30 minutes later. Last day is pushed back to May 25th.

Tulsa County

  • Berryhill - 17 minutes added to end of each day. Last day is pushed back to May 21st.
  • Bixby - High school will begin 15 minutes early and dismiss 25 minutes late and elementary and middle schools will begin 10 minutes early and dismiss 30 minutes late. Extended days will last through May 22nd, then return to normal class days until the last day of the semester, which has been pushed back to May 25th.
  • Broken Arrow - 15 minutes added before and after school. No more late starts on Wednesdays. Bus times moved up 15 minutes.
  • Glenpool - Still deciding on how to make up minutes. Last day is pushed back to May 25th.
  • Oologah-Talala - 37 minutes added to end of each day. Last day is pushed back to May 25th.
  • Owasso - 20 minutes added before school and 30 minutes added after school. Last day is pushed back to June 1st.
  • Sand Springs - 15 minutes added to end of each day.
  • Skiatook - No change.
  • Sperry - No change.
  • Union - 25 minutes added to end of each day. No more late starts on Fridays. Last day is pushed back to June 1st.

Wagoner County

  • Coweta - 10 minutes added before and after school.

Washington County

  • Bartlesville - Still deciding on how to make up minutes. Last day for elementary and middle schools is pushed back to May 30th and high school is pushed back to May 31st.
