Mother, son facing complaints following brutal dog attack in northeast Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Two people have turned themselves in following a brutal dog attack that caused a woman to have her arm amputated in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma County Jail records show that Dawntanya Franklin, 46, and Wayne Jackson, 23, both were booked through the jail May 14 on eight counts of failure to restrain a dangerous dog.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. May 5 police were called to reports of a dog mauling in the 700 block of NE 29 Street. Responding officers found 54-year-old Terri Cosby being mauled by four dogs. Court documents show that officers could see the muscle, tendons and bones in one of Cosby's arms. Body camera footage shows an officer arriving on scene to find Cosby bleeding on the ground. Several gunshots can be heard as other officers begin firing at the dogs as they run through the neighborhood.
A witness attempted to stop the attack and was bit by at least one of the dogs.
Police shot and killed two of the dogs. The other two were caught and later euthanized.
Cosby was reportedly walking from a friend's house to her home when she was attacked by the dogs.
Court documents show that the dogs had a history of being aggressive, reportedly biting a plumber and jumping into a yard and killing a neighbor's dog.
Both Franklin and Jackson bonded out of jail. A fundraiser has been started to help Cosby pay for medical costs.
