Nowata County Sheriff's Office investigating homicide after body found in wooded area
NOWATA, Okla. (KTUL) —
The Nowata County Sheriff's Office says a body was found Tuesday night in Nowata County.
Sheriff Sandy Hadley says the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been called out to help look into the "suspicious death." Hadley did not have any information about who the person might be or how they died, but she said the body was found in a wooded area.
This is Nowata's first homicide since 2005, Hadley said.
“It’s a very suspicious crime scene," said Hadley.
She says a group of people stumbled upon it in a wooded area. But so far the person has not been identified.
“This is enough to shake this little town up," said Hadley.
The sheriff tells us plans are being put in place for extra patrolling across the county.
