OBN agents find over 700 pounds of marijuana in delivery truck at Tinker Air Force Base
MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KOKH) —
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agents seized more than 700 pounds of marijuana attempting to be shipped through Tinker Air Force Base.
OBN spokesperson Mark Woodward reports that on June 15 an OBN agent on military duty at Tinker was notified of a semi attempting to enter the base with a legitimate delivery.
The agent performed a routine search on the truck and found duffel bags of marijuana in the trailer. Further inspection led to approximately 35 boxes of marijuana weighing 715 pounds and several thousand small containers of marijuana THC vape oil.
Woodward says the drugs were being moved from Pasadena, California to New Jersey and were hidden among a legitimate load of frozen chicken. The chicken was stored for safe keeping until it could be later transported.
The driver of the vehicle, 59-year-old Ashot Grigoryan, was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of trafficking in CDS and maintaining a vehicle for drug activity. Grigoryan has previously been convicted in Missouri for trafficking drugs.
