Police arrest teenagers in connection with serial burglaries at Tulsa business
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
Police say they've arrested two teenagers involved in multiple burglaries over the last couple of weeks.
A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday after detectives staked out the EZ Pawn shop near Admiral and Memorial. The suspects tried to break in through the back door of the shop after closing, but detectives were inside the business waiting.
Detectives chased the 14-year-old suspect and caught him, according to police. The 15-year-old suspect got away, but as police were taking the 14-year-old to his home to get his parents, police spotted the 15-year-old walking along North Memorial Drive. He was then taken into custody.
Police say the two suspects were involved in at least six burglaries at the same pawn shop in the last two weeks. Earlier that evening, the parents of the 14-year-old called police and turned in iPads, watches and other property they thought their son had stolen, according to police.
Officers are working to recover more stolen items they believe have been dispersed at East Central High School.
The same suspects were also involved in other burglaries that were already under investigation, police say.
