Police discover drugs, stolen property in storage unit

Officers were sent to check out a suspicious person at SecurCare Self Storage near South Mingo Road and East 11th Street around 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

The caller told police Joshua Smith was at the facility and believed to have stolen property.

When officers got to the scene, they saw Smith coming out of his storage unit.

Through the open door of the unit, officers said they could see several firearms.

Police said a stolen vehicle was parked near the facility.

After searching the storage unit, officers found five pounds of high grade marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and pharmaceuticals, as well as burglary tools and stolen property connecting him to burglaries and stolen vehicles in Kansas, Broken Arrow and Tulsa.

TPD arrested Smith on a felony warrant. His charges include 11 counts of Possession of Firearm After Conviction of a Felony, Possession of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Distribute, multiple counts of Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property, Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Burglary Tools.

Detectives are investigating previous crimes to see if Smith will be charged with anything else.
