Police say a teenager is dead after a shooting at a north Tulsa apartment complex.

Officers responded around noon to an apartment complex near Apache and Harvard.

Homicide detectives at the scene confirm a 15-year-old is dead and police are searching for the shooter.

"We've been interviewing witnesses on scene to find out more about what happened," said, Tulsa Police Capt. Malcolm Wightman. Police believe the two knew each other and had some sort of altercation that led to the shooting.

Dozens of people gathered silently outside the apartment. Despite the large crowd of police and residents, the scene was quiet as police investigated the boy's homicide.

The silence was broken once by a woman, who police say is an important witness, who tried to run from officers.

"This is one of the challenges we face on the job," said Wightman "We had to call for more police presence as the crowd became larger."

. Wightman said she was a witness who was not inclined to talk with detectives. Officers detained her so she can be interviewed, he said.

Dozens of neighbors, friends, and family members continue to mourn the loss of this victim.

This is Tulsa's sixth homicide of 2018.
