Jenks student found after trying to take knife onto bus

(File)

Jenks Public Schools says a student who tried to take a knife onto a middle school bus Monday morning has been found.

A spokesman for the district says the student tried to get on at a middle school bus stop near 96th and Memorial. The bus driver noticed the knife and acted quickly to prevent the student from getting on the bus, according to the district.

Neither the student nor the knife got onto the bus, and no one was hurt. Authorities located the student a few hours later.

"Appropriate action has been taken to ensure the continued safety and security of all Jenks Public Schools’ students," spokesman Rob Loeber said.

The student who had the knife never showed up to school, the district says.

Here's the message the district sent out to parents about the incident:

MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS:

Security has been increased at the Middle School and a police presence will be maintained throughout the day. Again, all students arrived at school safely and the school day will continue as normal.
