Police make 11 DUI arrests during NYE sobriety checkpoint

Police arrested 20 people during an ENDUI sobriety checkpoint on New Year's Eve.

Tulsa police, the Tulsa Police Reserves, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Sapulpa police, Oklahoma ABLE and the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office participated in the checkpoint between 10 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. at 400 East 8th St. near the entrance to the IDL from downtown Tulsa. Officers arrested 11 people on complaints of DUI during the checkpoint.

In addition, five people were arrested for misdemeanor drug charges. Two people were arrested on felony drug charges, and two others were arrested on warrants, according to Tulsa police.

More than 250 vehicles were checked during the checkpoint, and 75 citations were issued. TCSO deputies also apprehended someone driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to police.
