Police searching for suspects they say attempted to steal an ATM from Walgreens
Tulsa, Okla. (KTUL) -- Police are searching for two people who they say attempted to steal an ATM from a south Tulsa Walgreens.
Officers responded to the Walgreens near South Lewis Ave and East 51st Street South around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Police say a stolen vehicle was used to smash through the front doors of Walgreens. The two suspects, then used a a tow cable to try and remove the ATM directly inside of the store. During their first attempt, they pulled the computer portion of the system outside onto the sidewalk. The safe portion, where the money is kept, remained in place. The two made a second attempt, trying to remove the safe, but were unsuccessful.
According to police, after abandoning the stolen truck behind the building, the two suspects ran off.
Officials say the truck the suspects used was stolen near 64th and South Peoria Avenue around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Both suspects are described as black males wearing hoodies and dark pants.
