Sand Springs fireworks permits now on sale through July 4

(File/MGN)

The City of Sand Springs is now offering fireworks permits for residents looking to get in on the Independence Day fun.

Any resident wanting to release fireworks within Sand Springs city limits can purchase the $20 permit from the Fire Department. The permits must be purchased by an adult who is 18 or older and can not be transferred to anyone else.

The mandatory permits went on sale Tuesday and will be available through 4 p.m. July 4. Residents may purchase the permits either in person at Sand Springs Fire Department Administration Offices (108 E Broadway St.) or online at www.sandspringsok.org/fwpermit. The Fire Administration office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning June 12 through July 3.

Residents with permits may only release fireworks in the Sand Springs city limits at these times: July 3 from 6 p.m. to 11.pm. and July 4th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Anyone who sets off fireworks without a permit in the city limits will be fined $154. A maximum fine of $500, plus court costs, can be imposed for serious or repetitive violations.
