Police: Store employee takes shot at theft suspect in parking lot

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- Police say an employee at The Gadget Company took a shot at a theft suspect in the parking lot of the midtown Tulsa business.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots just after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the store near 15th and Boston.

Police say an unknown man stole a Yeti Cooler. The employee and suspect had a verbal confrontation. When the suspect left the store, the employee followed and fired one shot at or near the suspect's vehicle as he drove off.

Police aren't sure if the suspect was injured.

A shell casing and bullet were recovered from the parking lot and the handgun was recovered inside the store.

Police say the employee was cited for reckless discharge of a firearm.
