State health officials record 1st West Nile death since 2015
OKLAHOMA CITY (KTUL) —
The Oklahoma State Department of Health says someone in Oklahoma has died from the West Nile Virus.
The death was recorded in Pottawatomie County and was the first in the state since 2015, according to the OSDH.
Around a dozen people have shown symptoms of the mosquito-borne illness in 2017, OSDH says.
In 2012, Oklahoma saw a record number of cases and deaths from the virus. There were 176 cases and 15 deaths that year.
