Suspect in shooting outside Broken Arrow Walmart dies
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
A man accused of killing another man outside a Broken Arrow Walmart earlier this month has died.
Caleb Lee, 25, suffered a "medical episode" at the Tulsa County Jail Sunday morning, according to the sheriff's office. A detention officer found Lee lying on the floor in his cell, and medical staff decided to move him for evaluation, jail records show.
Lee refused to get on the nurse's cart as he was being escorted from the cell, according to jail records. When detention officers tried to help him, Lee reportedly slumped to the floor. Lee was then handcuffed and helped onto his feet before he walked to the medical center "without further incident."
Lee's condition worsened while he was in the medical unit, according to jail records. He was then taken to the hospital, where he later died.
A medical examiner will determine Lee's official cause of death.
Police said Lee shot and killed 27-year-old Dylan Parker at the Walmart near Albany and 177th Sept. 6. Investigators said they believe Lee and Parker had met up for a drug deal.
The shooting was Broken Arrow's first homicide of the year.
