Suspect shot during Collinsville home break-in booked into jail for burglary

Kou Yang (Tulsa County Jail)

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- A man who was shot last week during a home break-in in Collinsville was booked into the Tulsa County Jail Tuesday for burglary.

Kou Yang, 33, was arrested after deputies say he broke into a home near East 131st Street North and North Memorial Drive early Sept. 1. The homeowner armed himself when he woke up to his dogs barking and the back door open.

Deputies say the homeowner saw Yang with a firearm of his own, so the homeowner fired, hitting Yang in both hips and the hand.

Yang dropped his weapon and ran to a nearby home. Police later found him in the street not far from the shooting scene.

Yang was booked into jail for first-degree burglary, firearm possesion, trespassing and assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is $55,500.
