Driver dies after crash along Highway 75
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
Police say the driver of a small pickup truck that crashed along Highway 75 Wednesday morning has died.
Crews responded to the crash around 11:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 75 near 81st Street. Authorities say a driver in a red Ford Ranger was carrying a load of lumber and lost control before crashing into an exit sign and rolling down the embankment.
The driver, identified as Homer Wesley, was pulled from the truck by the passenger and several bystanders. Wesley was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died around 12:30 p.m.
Police say Wesley's passenger, his brother William Wesley, went to the hospital as a precaution but was not seriously injured.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but it appears the cause of the crash was the improper load.
