Dashcam video shows carjacking suspect get hit by police car after high-speed chase
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) - Tulsa Police have released video of a December police chase that ended with an officer-involved shooting and a suspect being hit by a police cruiser.
Police say the Dec. 15, 2016 pursuit began after four people stole a car on Highway 169 near 21st Street.
In one video, several suspects are seen hanging out of the car window, showing a gun during the chase and firing at officers.
In another video, the driver stops the car and three passengers run from the vehicle in a mobile home park. That's when a police car hits one of the suspects as he runs.
At the end of the chase near North Trenton Avenue and East Pine Street, a police car hit the stolen car, causing it to spin. The driver ran off and officers opened fire. Chekota Whitetree, 21, was shot in the back but survived.
The officer who fired the shots was identified as 46-year-old Steven Jones, who has been on the force since 2004.
All four suspects were arrested.
