New police chief, two nursing home employees, suspect killed in Ohio shooting
KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - A new police chief and two others have died from their injuries in a Friday morning shooting according to police.
The alleged shooter also died.
Dispatchers first reported a shooting at 205 E Main Street in Kirkersville, the Pine Kirk Care Center. Sheriff Randy Thorpe says Kirkersville Police Chief Steven Eric Disario was shot and killed while responding to a 911 call at the Pine Kirk Care Center, a nursing home on East Main Street. The last report from him was that he'd spotted the suspect.
Two employees from the nursing home facility also died from their injuries.
The chief was only on the job for three weeks, and was the father of six children, with one more on the way.
Ohio Governor John Kasich released a statement asking for people's prayers.
It's unclear what led to the shooting, or how the events unfolded.
