Booker T. Washington falls short of 6A Championship

Following their overtime upset of previously unbeaten Union, the Booker T. Washington boys basketball team lost to Edmond North in the 6A championship game.

Marques Wilson scored 23 points to help Edmond North defeat Tulsa Booker T. Washington 78-53 for the Class 6A boys title Saturday at the Mabee Center.

Marvin Johnson had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Jakaree Holmes scored 12 points for Edmond North, which won its first state title. The Huskies shot 50 percent from the field.

Aaron Lucas led Washington with 23 points. R.J. Fuqua scored 12 points and Seth Hurd added 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Hornets, who shot just 25 percent from the field.

Edmond North led 33-24 at halftime, then outscored Washington 18-11 in the third quarter to take control.

Washington had defeated Tulsa Union on Friday to end its unbeaten season. The Hornets were seeking a record 16th state title.
