"Will Kuehne, junior quarterback, Owasso High School."

Talk about making a great first impression. This is Kuehne's first season in Oklahoma after previously playing in Dallas. And he has been the pilot of arguably the best air raid offense in the state.

"We were expecting, ya know, kind of a big season," explained Kuehne. "I think it's exceeding a lot of other people's expectations, but not really ours. Like our goal was to be great."

Owasso's explosive offense has made the Rams look like legitimate state contenders. But Kuehne outdid himself this past week; completing 16 of 21 passes for 340 yards and 5 touchdowns in their win over Mustang.

"We saw a lot of stuff we could get [Mustang] with on film," Kuehne said.

"Coach [Blankenship] is really good at that kind of stuff; finding weaknesses in their defense. It was my job to put the ball in places where guys could go run under them and go get 'em."

Head coach Bill Blankenship may have a knack for devising great game plans but it's up to the players to digest the information. And Kuehne is definitely a student of the game.

"He's a guy who wants to watch film," Blankenship said of his new quarterback. "He's going to bring a notebook. He's going to take notes every time we have a meeting, or every time we have a team meeting, he's taking notes. I mean, he's just passionate.

"There's been some people in his life that have taught him well and he's embracing it."

So congratulations to Will Kuehne of Owasso High school for being our Week 4 Ford Award Nominee!
