Cowboy Golf takes top spot in Preseason Coaches Poll


Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team will begin the 2017-18 campaign ranked No. 1 in the preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll it was announced today.

OSU garnered seven first-place votes and 507 points overall. Vanderbilt was second with four first-place votes and 467 points.

Head coach Alan Bratton’s squad finished last season ranked third in the poll after posting five victories and reaching match play at the NCAA Championship. The Cowboys return three of the four players from that roster who earned All-America status in 2017, with senior Kristoffer Ventura, junior Zach Bauchou and sophomore Viktor Hovland all in the mix once again this season.

OSU is one of four Big 12 schools ranked in the top six to start the year. Oklahoma checks in at No. 3 and is followed by fourth-ranked Baylor and No. 6 Texas.

The Cowboys will get their fall slate underway on Sept. 1 at The Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
