The Oklahoma State Cowboys, regarded by many as a snub from the NCAA Tournament, will play their first postseason game Tuesday.

The No. 2-seed Cowboys open the National Invitation Tournament against 7-seed Florida Gulf Coast in Stillwater. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Despite finishing the regular season as ASUN champs, FGCU (23-11, 12-2) lost in the second round in the conference tournament.

Oklahoma State (19-14) topped the rival Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament before falling to Kansas. The school says the first 1,000 students to attend the game will get in free and get free food.

The NIT selection is OSU's 40th postseason appearance, either in the NIT or NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys are 5-1 all-time when hosting an NIT game.

Tonight's game tips off at 8 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
