Junior Paige Parker has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season and 13th time in her career, the league announced Tuesday.

Parker appeared in three games with two starts last week and went 2-0 by giving up just one earned run in 15.1 innings of work for a 0.46 earned run average. She threw two complete games, including a shutout, and allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out 14 and holding opponents to an .082 average.

With 13 honors in her career, Parker has tied former Texas pitcher Blaire Luna for third place in league history. Only Texas' Cat Osterman (25) and former Sooner Keilani Ricketts (16) have more. Parker won Big 12 Pitcher of the Week seven times as a freshman and five last year as a sophomore.

Parker started the week with a brilliant performance against Tulsa Wednesday. She threw a two-hit, 10-inning shutout and started the game-winning rally at the plate with a leadoff double in the 10th in a 1-0 Oklahoma victory. Parker’s 10 innings were a career high and her 141 pitches were one off her career best of 142 against Michigan last year in the Women’s College World Series. She struck out seven and walked just one.

The shutout was her second of the year and 25th of her career, tying for eighth in OU history. Parker retired the first eight batters she faced before giving up a single in the third. After a one-out walk in the fourth, she retired the next 10 batters. Tulsa got a leadoff single in the top of the eighth, but Parker set down the next nine batters to keep the Golden Hurricane off the board.

In a 9-1, five-inning win over Omaha Friday, she struck out six and walked none while giving up just one run on two hits to earn the win. The win was No. 73 in her career, breaking a tie for sixth place in OU history. It was also Parker’s 63rd career complete game, tying for eighth place in the Oklahoma record book.

Parker faced one batter in an 8-0, six-inning win against Illinois-Chicago Sunday. Fittingly, she struck out the batter to strand a pair of runners.

On the season, Parker is 7-4 with a 1.83 ERA in 76.2 innings. She’s struck out 93 batters against just 12 walks, has thrown two shutouts, recorded a save and has held opponents to a batting average of .194.
