TCU eliminates Sooners from Big 12 Tournament
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KTUL) —
Saturday, Oklahoma men's basketball finished its regular season with a 5-point win over TCU. The 8-seed Horned Frogs responded Wednesday with an 82-63 win over the 9-seed Sooners in the opening game of the Big 12 Tournament.
Vladamir Brodziansky led TCU (18-14) with a game-high 20 points. Teammate Kenrich Williams finished with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
As for OU (11-20), Khadeem Lattin led the Sooners with 18 points and 9 rebounds, but also had a game-high 4 turnovers. The Sooners had 10 turnovers total. TCU finished with 8.
The turning point came with 4:02 remaining in the first half and the game tied 29-29. The Horned Frogs closed the half on a 15-2 run. Oklahoma never got to within 10 points of that deficit in the second half; effectively ending this season at the Sprint Center.
It will be the first time the Sooners failed to reach the NCAA Tournament since 2012. That was the first season under current head coach Lon Kruger.
