TU Football holds first scrimmage of Fall Camp

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team had nearly a 90-minute scrimmage on Wednesday morning marking the ninth practice of preseason camp.

“We added officials and down and distance situations today, so the big things that I wanted to see was our guys flying around and how we handled different situations within the scrimmage,” said Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery.

“I thought we had really good energy,” said Montgomery. “The defense was able to get some 3-and-outs, we got some stops, and forced a couple turnovers. Offensively, I thought we did some good things. We extended some drives, had some long drives and ran the ball effectively. We have to continue to keep working the passing game. I thought we saw some bright spots today, but still have some room to grow.”

Tulsa will have an off day on Thursday before returning to the practice field Friday morning.

The Tulsa at USF game on Thursday, November 16 has been set for 7:00 p.m. (CT)/8:00 p.m. (ET) from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The game will be aired on ESPN.

Following Wednesday’s practice session, Tulsa players were treated to watermelons and popsicles by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a tradition that has gone back over 40 years.
