TU Women's Soccer to host Mexcio U20 National Team
The Tulsa women’s soccer team will host the Mexico U20 National Team in an exhibition contest on Thursday, August 10 beginning at 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch. There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.
The Tulsa women’s soccer team looks to bounce back after recording just eight wins in 2016, missing the double-digit wins mark and the conference tournament for the first time since 2010. TU returns 18 letterwinners, including seven starters, and adds seven newcomers to the roster.
“Looking back at last year, we had nine freshmen, so a third of our team was new,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “Last year was a learning year, we’ve made a lot of progress since then and with the core returning, we are looking forward to the challenges of this season. We return a lot of experience to the lineup, and although we won’t have to have freshmen starting, several will make an impact right away.”
Cussen, who is in his 10th season at the helm, is the winningest women's soccer coach in school history with 87 victories, and is just two wins shy of his 200th career victory with a 198-146-37 mark in 19 seasons as a Division I head coach.
