I'm Kim Jackson, education reporter and weekend anchor here at KTUL. I started in 2001 after spending several years working in the Tulsa market. I was born in Pine Bluff, Ark.
What I love most about my job is the chance to meet new people, hear their stories and educate the people who live in my community.
I started working in television right here in Tulsa at the University of Tulsa with TUTV. Upon graduation, I worked at KJRH and OETA before landing my job at Channel 8.
I've covered stories from the Oklahoma City bombing to the Hurricane Katrina victims arriving in Oklahoma and issues surrounding the children in Oklahoma schools.
I have worked with a number of charities over the years but am most proud of the healthy initiatives I've helped to lead. For seven years, I've organized a community couch to 5k running program, encouraging fitness in my community. I've also volunteered in schools as a mentor and I love to speak and motivate students when invited. I've also helped raise thousands of dollars for Margaret Hudson, the school for teen parents.
If I'm not at work, chances are I am with my family or at the gym. I love working out and I love creating memories with the family.
