A new fissure opened in Leilani Estates, Hi, Sunday.

New eruption of Kilauea fueled huge lava fountains all coming from fissure 16 which just started erupting Saturday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that fissure 17, which also opened Saturday night, was spattering but no flow had yet formed.

The Hawaii County Civil Defense issued an alert that an 18th fissure was discovered along a road west of a major highway on the Big Island.

Geologists warn that Kilauea's summit could have an explosive steam eruption that would hurl rocks and ash miles into the sky.

Hawaii officials to call for more evacuations today.
