Much needed rain on the way
An upper level system will push scattered showers into our area starting Monday night and continuing into Tuesday. The more impressive rainfall totals will be confined to south of I-40 where localized areas could see up to an inch of rain. Amounts will be lighter the further you head to the north. It won't be enough to put a significant dent in the drought conditions across Oklahoma but we will welcome any kind of moisture in our area.
The rain chances come after a record breaking weekend when temperatures soared into the upper 80s in Green Country. Areas of SW OK reached the upper 90s to near triple digits. The warm conditions, wind, and dry vegetation have sparked several dangerous grass and wild fires.
