Winter Storm Watch issued for much of Green Country through Sunday morning
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for areas along and north of I-44.
The watch includes Osage, Washington, Nowata, Craig, Ottawa, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers and Creek counties. It goes into effect Friday morning and lasts through Sunday morning.
A Winter Storm Watch is issued when dangerous amounts of ice and snow will be possible in or around the watch area.
This storm system will bring a threat of freezing rain beginning as early as Friday morning and potentially lasting through early Sunday morning.
The areas that have the highest risk for significant icing are the Bartlesville, Nowata and Pawhuska areas and further north into southern Kansas.
Temperatures will warm above freezing Sunday and the threat will diminish.
