The Rain Drops Are Adding Up But Is It Enough?

U.S. Drought Monitor (Issued June 3)

We need every drop we can get, and isn't it great that we are only a few days into the month of June and it's off to a wet start? So far, Tulsa has recorded rain six out of nine days! The rainfall is adding up quickly with rain totals for the month actually above normal by almost an inch.

The last 2 rounds of storms that moved across Green Country dumped significant rain. In fact, some locations received anywhere from 2-4 inches in just a 48 hour period, with some of the heaviest rain falling south of I-40.

Storm totals over the past five days have ranged from 2" in Wilburton to more than 5" in Stuart.

Before the rain moved in last week, most of eastern Oklahoma was dealing with moderate to extreme drought conditions. The next update won't be released until Thursday, but it will be interesting to see what impact the recent rain will have on the overall drought outlook.
