Man found guilty of 1994 murder of Tulsa woman
Leroy Gilbert Jr. (TCSO)

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- It took more than two decades for a man to stand trial in the murder of a Tulsa woman but her family finally has a verdict.

Leroy Gilbert Jr., 54, was found guilty Thursday of the 1994 death of Erma Goodou.  The woman was found dead by her then 13-year-old daughter in their north Tulsa home that July.

Police took fingerprints and DNA at the scene but never found a match.

In 2012, the case was handed over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations.  Three years later, an arrest warrant was issued.

Gilbert Jr. was arrested in Texas.

Police say he lived near Goodou at the time of the murder.

Gilbert Jr.'s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7.  The jury recommended life in prison without parole.
