Barnard School Artifacts Saved By Historical Society Before Fire
We've learned that artifacts thankfully were saved just months before Wednesday's destructive fire at Barnard Elementary.
Barnard closed in May as part of the consolidation for Project School House.
After that, things like photos, yearbooks, documents, and poetry dating back to 1959 were all preserved at the Tulsa Historical Society.
"It was perfect timing in light of the tragedy this week with the burning of the structure." said Ian Stewart, Archivist and Curator at the Tulsa Historical Society. "We want to show that this is why the Tulsa Historical Society exists. We're here to collect Tulsa history and preserve it."
The items will soon be on display on Facebook and at the Historical Society's museum.
It's located at 24th & Peoria.
