Former Owasso Star Signs With Tigers

Former Owasso pitcher Brian Flynn signed with the Detroit Tigers Thursday, a week after being selected in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft.Terms of the deal weren't released.Flynn just completed his sophomore season at Wichita State where he went 6-and-4 with a 4.63 earned run average in 20 appearances, including eleven starts.He struck out 77 batters in 83 and two-thirds innings and had a team-best three complete games, including one shutout.As a freshman, Flynn was 2-and-5 with a 4.98 ERA.At Owasso, he was a member of the 2009 team that went 35-and-3 and won the Class 6A championship. During his senior season, he went 9-and-1 with a 0.79 earned run average with 126 strikeouts in 70 and two-thirds innings.In February, Flynn earned the win when the Shockers came to Tulsa and defeated Oral Roberts 7-to-2 at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
