A homeowner shot a man breaking into his house on Friday morning near Collinsville.

According to the Rogers County Sheriffs Department the homeowner was asleep in his house near 156th Street North and 145th East Avenue when the break in happened around 9 a.m.

The intruder has been identified as 26 year-old Aaron Cope.

The homeowner tells ktul.com he fired his .22 caliber weapon twice but the first time it misfired. The second shot hit Cope in the leg.

Authorities said Cope was taken to St. Johns Hospital and his injuries are not life-threatening.

Cope will be booked into the Rogers County Jail when he's released from the hospital.

The homeowner was not hurt.

Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said Cope has broke into the home in the past and was going after pharmaceuticals that were in the house.

Rogers County Court records show Cope was arrested on August 18th for second degree burglary and was just released on September 2.
