One Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Okfuskee County

An Okfuskee County deputy was involved in a shooting early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, a deputy responded to a domestic dispute in Paden around 3 a.m.

The report states that a man, unrelated to the call that the deputy had responded to, approached with a shotgun. After several requests to drop the weapon, the man identified as 48-year-old Curtis Fipps turned towards the deputy with the shotgun.

The deputy fired his weapon. Fipps died at the scene.

OSBI agents are working with deputies to collect information and process the crime scene. The District Attorney will then determine if the shooting was justified.
