Teenage Driver From Skiatook Killed In Car Crash

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a 16-year-old driver was killed in a car crash just before 4 a.m. Saturday.{} OHP has sent out a corrected age of the driver as 16.{} The report originally stated the driver was 14.An accident report indicates Shakota Nichols from Skiatook was driving a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner on 52nd W Ave just outside Skiatook when he lost control and ran off the road.The car hit a fence poll and a tree, partially ejecting Nichols out of the passenger window.{} The car came to rest on the passenger side, pinning him.Blake Girdner, 12; Larry Ham, 13; and Jason Westfall, 17 were passengers in the vehicle.{} They were not hurt.Troopers listed the cause of the crash as inexperience.{} The report states Nichols was the only one not wearing a seatbelt.
