Waiting Child: Fishing with Isiah
Outside of the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, the Oklahoma Wildlife and Conservation folks had us with a hook in the water and ready for out first catch.
"I'm probably just going to drop it over the edge here and see if I can catch anything." Isiah tells Keith.
And it didn't take long at all. 13-year-old Isiah caught perch by the dozen, one after another.
"that's a nice size one right there." Keith told Isiah as he reeled in a fish.
But it was the catfish the put his skills, and the pole, to the limit.
"Oh, get that pole! Look at him!" Shawn Gee exclaimed to Isiah. To heavy to bring up, Isiah and Shawn went to the bank to pull the five pound catfish to shore.
Not bad for a young man who says he loves to fish and has a wonderful reason why.
"One of the first memories I had was with my grandmother fishing." Isiah tellsKeith.
When this soon-to-be 8th grader isn't fishing, he loves OKC Thunder basketball and reading books. "Like harry potter and stuff." "Favorite harry potter book?" "Probably the fifth one."
When it comes to being adopted, Isiah is wise beyond his years.
"I mean, I really want to be adopted.' Isiah tells Keith "I've been in the system off and on for 11 years and I really want a family that will just care from me."
"i mean i really want to be adopted. I've been in the system off and on for 11 years and I really want a family that will just care for me."
