Former Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett has endorsed Kevin Stitt in the race for governor.

Cornett was defeated by Stitt in the Republican runoff primary in August.

"I believe Kevin Stitt is the right candidate to move Oklahoma forward, to raise the standards on education and health, and to demand better outcomes from our state government." Cornett said.

Cornett said that the state needs "strong, trustworthy leadership" to unify and get their "fiscal house in order" and believes that Stitt can accomplish that.

The race for governor tops an important election on Nov. 6. Friday is the last day to register to vote in that election.
