Two people died in overnight flooding in southeast Kansas.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said the two men killed were a father, Dennis Clark Catron, 70, and his 39-year-old son, Dennis Clark Catron Jr, both from Elk City.

Montgomery County Emergency Management said emergency crews spent much of the morning searching for a missing person after finding an abandoned car near flood waters. They were later found safe.

In some parts of the area, floodwaters reached 5-feet-deep. Police went door-to-door overnight warning people.

Some residents had to be rescued from their homes.
