AAA sponsors law enforcement training following passage of medical marijuana
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Oklahomans have passed medical marijuana legislation, now law enforcement will be getting up to speed on the drug.
AAA is sponsoring a two-day specialized for Oklahoma law enforcement officers on detecting and identifying drivers impaired by drugs and/or alcohol. The even will feature state officers, toxicology experts, prosecutors and other traffic safety professionals.
According to AAA, Oklahoma experts evaluated 255 people suspected of driving under the influence of prescribed or illegal substances in 2017. Most were impaired by more than one drug with marijuana among the leaders. AAA officials say this is already a growing problem in the state and could be made worse by the legalization of medical marijuana.
The training will take place on June 28 and 29.
