The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Oklahoma confirms that former Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon has been identified as the victim of a car crash.

Chief Administrative Officer Amy Elliott says that McClendon's body was badly burned, making identification difficult. A forensic odontologist was brought in to identify McClendon by his teeth. McClendon was positively identified Friday afternoon. The medical examiner's office reports that McClendon died from multiple blunt force trauma. A toxicology report is still pending.
