BIXBY, Okla. (KTUL) — Looking at Skylar Carpenter biking around town, you'd never imagine that he was in the hospital just one day ago. But when he stops, he's guzzling down water like someone who's been stranded in a desert. Yesterday, he was visiting a friend's house and had been biking around for only 15 minutes.
"When I was on my way back home, I was riding by BTC and I passed out," he said,
No one knows how long Skylar was lying there, his memory is understandably a little shaky. He does remember someone leaving BTC helped him.
"I'm pretty sure that's the guy who woke me up. He kept asking if I was okay. When I fell I guess my water bottle fell out of my water bottle holder, and so he handed me the bottle of water and he told me to drink that, and that he was going to go call the fire department," Skylar said.
At home, Skylar's mom Mandy Park was getting worried.
"I decided to call him and he answered the phone. He was like well, I passed out while I was riding my bike. I was like what? And he's like yeah, the fire department is here," said Mandy.
Mandy rushed over and then went with Skylar to the hospital.
"Unfortunately no one saw him fall, so we didn't know if he hit his head, we didn't know what happened. They had to run a whole bunch of tests at the hospital, and we still don't exactly know why," she said.
The leading theory is dehydration, and he's going to the family doctor tomorrow for another checkup. What they do know is that they want to find the man who found their boy.
"I made a post in a Bixby Facebook group thanking him. I figured it would get back to him somehow," Park said. "Some people have tagged people who work there. I still haven't heard anything yet, but I still want to personally thank him."
