OKMULGEE, Okla. (KTUL) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued a blue alert for the Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office at approximately 4:07 a.m. Thursday.
OCSO reported being involved in a shooting with 34-year-old Christopher Harris on South Central Avenue and East 2 Street.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed an Okmulgee Police Department officer was shot while responding to a burglary just before 2 a.m. on Thursday. The officer's identity was confirmed Friday morning to be Officer Dustin Clark.
When OPD arrived, one officer approached the front of the house, while another went around the back.
The suspect ambushed the officer in the back of the home and shot once below the officer's waist. The officer was transported to Saint Francis in Tulsa in stable condition and has since been released.
During the exchange, the officer fired back. Authorities cannot confirm if Harris was injured.
The suspect then fled the scene heading westbound on foot with his whereabouts unknown.
Harris is reported to have some form of relationship with the homeowners and OSBI declined to elaborate further.
Multiple agencies reported Harris is allegedly armed with an AK-47, is 5'9, 218 lbs, bald, and has brown eyes.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating and searching for Harris, with approximately 30 law enforcement personnel contributing to the search, including Tulsa Police Department with their Tulsa police helicopter.
As of Thursday, Okmulgee Public Schools have also canceled summer school, summer feeding, and practice at Harmon Stadium. Students and staff are advised to not be on site, stay home, and be safe.
Harris has still not yet been found as of Friday morning.
