Boat catches fire on Grand Lake, family steps in to help

VINITA, Okla. (KTUL)- A family is safe after their boat caught fire on Grand Lake Monday.

Tulsa’s Channel 8 viewer Katie Edwards shared video of the boat engulfed in flames on the lake.

Edwards said her family was out on their boat when they noticed the boat on fire with people still on board.

They were able to help save two women, six children and two dogs. One of the children did suffer a burn but is expected to be OK.

The Grand River Dam Authority is working to find out what caused the fire.
